Many individuals believe that the current political systems in place in the western world, dubbed as “liberal democracies,” are nothing more than disguised forms of totalitarian rule, enhanced by advanced techniques of propaganda and an abundant source of wealth. The US-led empire governs the global south through military force and dominates the rest of the world through psychological manipulation.
Living under such conditions may be more comfortable compared to facing immediate threats, but it is important to understand that comfort should not be equated with freedom. Psychological oppression is still oppression, regardless of its subtler nature.
Change can only be brought about if the masses are awakened to the truth and reject the false narratives perpetuated by propaganda. The control of public perception is the biggest obstacle to progress, as the manipulation of a critical mass of people hinders any efforts of activism, protests, or organized resistance.
Fortunately, the public’s trust in mainstream media is at an all-time low, while access to alternative sources of information has never been greater. However, the censorship of dissenting voices online is becoming a growing concern. The solution is to undermine the credibility of the imperial media and expose their lies, thereby reducing the public’s trust in these institutions.
The battle against propaganda must take precedence over all other efforts for change, as it is the root cause of the inability to manifest revolutionary ideals. The imperial propaganda machine is the primary target, and we must direct our efforts towards undermining its narrative control, including those in Hollywood and Silicon Valley.
Expanding public consciousness is the key to progress. The more individuals awaken to the truth, the greater the potential for collective action. All healthy impulses have been co-opted and manipulated by those in power, but this does not diminish the value of these impulses. The goal is to overcome the twisted perception of reality imposed by the imperial narrative, to reclaim our agency and ability to bring about positive change.
Opposing US aggression towards China offers a unique opportunity for the anti-war left to differentiate themselves from the right, who may only be opposed to aggression towards Russia. By taking a stance against conflict with China, the left has the potential to reclaim its status as a true anti-war force and earn the support of the public.
In a world where sensitivity and empathy are increasingly valued, it is crucial that individuals continue to cultivate these qualities. A world ruled by hardened individuals has proven to be disastrous, and a shift towards emotional intelligence and a greater capacity for empathy is desperately needed.
